12 Days of Yoga Just for You.

A Festive Journey for You!

As the holiday season approaches, the air fills with joy, laughter, and a hint of chaos. While the festivities bring merriment, they can also lead to stress and fatigue. This year, why not gift yourself and your loved ones the blessing of wellness with our “12 Days of Christmas Yoga” challenge? Each day, we’ll explore a unique yoga practice designed to boost your spirit, restore your energy, and keep you centered throughout the holiday season. If all else fails take a look at the poster at the bottom of the post! I think we can each recognise some of them.

Day 1: Christmas Spirit Flow

Start your journey with gentle stretches to open your body and heart. Begin with Child’s Pose and transition to a Flow that includes Downward Dog, Sun Salutations, and a final resting pose such as child's pose. This practice sets the tone for your 12 days, encouraging mindfulness and presence.

Day 2: Festive Flexibility

Flexibility is key to handling holiday stress. Today, focus on deeper stretches like Pigeon Pose and Forward Folds. These poses help release tension in the hips and lower back, allowing you to move more freely into the busy days ahead.

Day 3: Strength & Stability

Building strength is crucial as we dive into the holidays. Incorporate foundational poses like Warrior I, II, and III to create stability in both body and mind. Don't forget to use yoru blocks or books to support these poses. These power poses will help you feel grounded, making it easier to tackle whatever the season throws your way.

Day 4: Joyful Heart Opening

Set aside your worries and dedicate today to heart-opening poses. Look to Cobra, Bridge Pose, and Camel Pose to expand your chest and lift your spirits. As you open your heart, invite in positivity and gratitude for the little things that make this season special.

Day 5: Mindful Breathing Techniques

Incorporate pranayama (breath work) into your practice today. Techniques like Ujjayi - water breath or Nadi Shodhana- alternate nostril, can help calm your mind and reduce anxiety. Spend some quiet time in meditation, focusing on your breath and letting go of the stress of the season.

Day 6: Holiday Hamstrings Stretching

Today is all about releasing tight hamstrings, which can often become strained during this busy season. Try poses like Seated Forward Bend and Downward Dog to create space and relaxation in your legs, promoting overall comfort as you navigate holiday festivities.

Day 7: Yoga with Friends & Family

Invite loved ones to join you today! Yoga is a wonderful way to connect and share joy. Practice partner poses, or simply encourage each other in a shared flow. Together, you can create a festive atmosphere that fosters community and laughter.

Day 8: Restorative Rejuvenation

Amid the hustle and bustle, give yourself permission to rest. Practice restorative yoga today using props like blankets and bolsters. Poses like Legs-Up-the-Wall and supported Child’s Pose facilitate deep relaxation, helping you recharge your batteries for the days ahead. Think Yin!

Day 9: Gratitude Meditation

Integrate a gratitude practice into your yoga journey. Spend a few moments in meditation, reflecting on what you’re thankful for this season. This mindful moment can enhance your overall sense of well-being, helping you to appreciate each moment as it unfolds.

Day 10: Playful Flow

Inject some joy into your practice with a playful flow! Include fun poses like Crow, Firefly, or even some playful transitions like jumping from Downward Dog to Halfway Lift. Embrace your inner child, and remember that yoga is about joy and exploration!

Day 11: Peaceful Evening Flow

As the day winds down, create a calming evening routine. Soft, gentle movements like Cat-Cow and gentle hip openers can help you unwind. Close your practice with Savasana, allowing the day’s activities to melt away as you drift into a peaceful state of relaxation.

Day 12: Celebratory Closing Circle

Conclude your 12 Days of Christmas Yoga with a festive closing circle. Reflect on your experiences, the poses that resonated with you, and the mindfulness you’ve cultivated. Celebrate your journey with a warm cup of herbal tea and a joyful heart.
